“I moved to Melbourne at the age of 15 to follow my love for classical ballet. I studied dance, human movement and completed my VCE at the Victorian College of the Arts.  After 5 years in Melbourne, dedicating my life and body to dance, my career and life path ended due to irreparable shin fractures.  This was a life crushing moment for me and drove me back to Tasmania to seek solace with my family. Shortly thereafter, I feel in love, got married and had 3 beautiful children.  Here is where I started looking for something to move and energise my body, still my mind and provide the feeling of total freedom that I used to experience when I was dancing.  I found yoga, or perhaps yoga found me…

Yoga became part of my life after I attended a sunrise class in Byron Bay in 1995. I’d been skirting around the edges of a ‘spiritual practice’ for some years. It wasn’t until I did that Hatha class that I felt I’d found what it was that I needed. I’d come to something familiar and yet it was foreign and mysterious and full of intrigue. I loved that it opened me to great possibilities in myself and others, that it provided physical challenges, whilst simultaneously encouraging me to question myself, my motivations, my beliefs and the choices I was making; ultimately it bought me home to myself. It satisfied me on many levels yet unearthed so many wonderings…I’d never felt so aware of myself but yet didn’t know who I was or what I was in the process of becoming!
