I began the year with the overarching intention to let go of limiting ideas of what is possible and to live into a more expansive understanding of my own capacity. Life responded in full measure offering me what at times felt like more than I could navigate. I have learned to trust and open more fully and welcome what life brings, to stay anchored to my Self where my perspective is more expansive and the strength and resources needed are accessible.
I stepped into more teaching in 2010 and in the first term challenged myself to offer the Kula Connection sessions with in depth exploration and often powerpoint presentations enquiring into various aspects of alignment, philosophy and practice.
In May I enjoyed a week long retreat in Bali with my teacher John Friend and was fortunate to be part of a vibrant group of 50 yoga teachers from around the world. Also in May I taught my first international workshop in Wellington, New Zealand. It was a special experience and amazing to be able to teach in the city where I did my first ever yoga class in 1982.
As a family our year has been one of huge change with the loss of my brother in law, loss of a dear friend to an accident, the death of our much loved Clydesdale cross mare in September and the passing of my mother in law last month, just a week before we moved house. In September my daughter Brook had her first big overseas trip without our family and is leaving Grade 10 and heading to College.
This year at Yoga from the Heart we expanded our schedule of classes. I hosted several visiting teachers, Betsy Downing in April, Donna Farhi in July, and Carlos Pomeda in October. We have joined with the wider Hobart yoga community with the YogaAid Challenge and last week hosted the Hobart Yoga Teachers lunch at the studio. Our end of year movie night and celebration was such a joy. I loved how connections were made and our feeling of belonging to a community enlivened.
It has been a big year and I bow in gratitude. Through yoga I have the privilege of working with Lee and Dani who are true exemplars of the yoga path and I get to share with others what nourishes, challenges and inspires. I thank you all so much for being part of the journey.
As the holidays are imminent, I am looking forward to time to practice, soften my gaze and open to an expanded vision for the coming year. I would love to offer more opportunities to deepen our understanding and gather as community. Wishing you all well, may we continually grow in our capacity to shine our fullest light.
Namaste, Clare
