What if I miss a class?
If you miss a class you are encouraged to make up your missed class in any other class of comparable level taught by the teacher you are enrolled with . You do not need to let us know you will be attending an alternative class, just show up. If you miss a class and cannot make it up yourself, you are very welcome to give your class to a friend. Make-up classes are limited to 3 classes per term.
What does it mean when a class is indicated to be full?
When class is listed as full it indicates that all the places for term enrollment are allocated, however there are still 2 casual places available on a first come, first served basis.
Waiting Lists for classes:
If you would like to enrol in a class which is full, you can add your name to a waiting list by writing your name on a list in the foyer of the yoga space, by emailing, or by phoning. You will be notified as soon as a place opens up.
How do I enrol for the next session of classes?
At the end of the term current students will be given the option to re-enrol before general enrolment opens. If you have been added to the waiting list you will be the first to be offered any available spaces. You can add your name to a waiting list by emailing or phoning (see contact details).
Are casual places available in classes?
There are always at least two casual casual spaces available in each class even if the class shows as being full. Casual places are assigned on a first come, first served basis. There is a basket in the foyer that will contain a number of mats to indicate the number of casual places available in the class. If the basket is empty all the casual places have been allocated.
How is Class structured?
Usually we begin sitting for the first 5 – 10 minutes, inquiring into, and inviting the natural breath as a way to centre ourselves inside. We have the opportunity to bring ourselves fully present, reflect on our intentions, infuse meaning into our practice. Practice of asana or yoga postures offer mindful movements of body and breath to increase flexibility, core strength and energy. Each class is structured to offer a balanced practice. We are encouraged to practice with deep respect to our own needs so our yoga becomes a safe and full expression from the inside out.
The last 15 – 20 minutes of class is devoted to Restorative Yoga and deep relaxation.
Anusara Level 1: Introduces the universal principles of alignment in a wide range of yoga postures, breathing practices, meditation and relaxation. A great place to begin if you have little or no yoga experience or are looking for a gentler session.
Anusara Level 2: Open to students who have had at least one term of Anusara yoga classes and feel ready to apply the principles in a wider range of poses and practices.
Anusara Level 3: Open to students with at least 2 years of consistent yoga classes. It is recommended that you have a home practice. In this class we will explore more challenging poses and practices, we will incorporate inversions, as well as weaving some philosophy.
Back Care: This class focuses on promoting healthy posture and alignment, developing core strength and stability, improving flexibility and balance and fosterng inner peace and a sense of ease.
Vinyasa Level 1: Classes are designed with the beginning student in mind or those wishing to practice in a gentle way. Introduction to principles of sound alignment and the connection of breath to movement with relaxation is the primary focus of these classes.
Vinyasa Level 2: These classes are for those with some experience in yoga who want to deepen their understandings. Sequences move from simple to more complex with continued focus on alignment, relaxation and synchronising breath to movement.
Vinyasa Level 3:These energetic classes are for experienced practitioners who are comfortable moving in a dynamic way. Stability, breath, strength, fluidity and relaxation are integral components of each session as students move continuously through an array of sun salute combinations. It is recommended that students have a solid background in asana practice. Please see Lee if you’re considering this class for the first time.
