Intention Philosophy

Vital health of body, vibrant mind, shining heart

I founded Yoga from the Heart in 2002 as an expression of gratitude for the gifts yoga has offered me.  Living my yoga I see as invitation to align with and receive fully the gifts of Grace (in all it’s guises) and follow, respond, and offer back as best I can ...... it is my intention to offer what affirms and supports life and I am grateful to all my teachers, my colleagues, and you as students on this journey of the Heart ..... Clare Raffety

Yoga is gaining recognition in Tasmania as a valuable therapeutic and preventative wellness approach.

Supporting Yoga from the Heart as it’s foundation are the following underlying principles:
Every person is an expression of the great mystery of which we are all a part.
There is an optimal alignment and action in every yoga pose that when touched will transform us on all levels.

Namaste

I honour the place in you in which the entire universe dwells.
I honour the place in you which is of love,
of truth, of light and of peace.
When you are in that place in you,
and I am in that place in me,
we are one.

The philosophical base from which Yoga from the Heart teachings emerge is the non dual Tantric approach.  Anusara yoga is based on a modern strand of Tantra within the framework of essential philosophical components originating primarily from Kashmir over 1000 years ago.  The non-dual view is that the material world and pure spirit are not seperate, we do not need to transcend the body to experience freedom and joy.  The material world is seen as the embodiment of Shiva-Shakti or the Supreme. The microcosm contains the Macrocosm. Therefore, the essence of the body, emotions, and the mind is Divine.

The attributes of the Supreme (Shiva-Shakti) at its absolute, unbounded essence are:
• Cit (Self-awareness/Supreme Consciousness) - Shiva
• Ananda (Bliss/creative power) - Shakti
• Goodness or Auspiciousness (Shri/Shiva)
• Purnatva (fullness, which includes peace)
• Svatantrya (ultimate freedom)
• Spanda (pulsation/polarity of energies)

The highest intention of the practice is the expansion of consciousness, recognising the attributes of the supreme within ourselves and having our lives be a creative expression of that.
